Do you have a story on positive thinking? Are you interested in reading other stories for inspiration? You may not realize it, but life is filled with opportunities and choices. If your life isn’t where you wish it to be, all you need to do is think positive and an opportunity will present itself. Then, you have the choice of whether or not to accept.
I would like to share my own story on positive thinking. Just five short years ago I was extremely unhappy. I had a job that I disliked at a restaurant. I had to deal with rude people every day. My boyfriend had just broken up with me. I was thousands of dollars in debt.
I basically wanted what everybody wanted: my own business, decent money, no debts to worry about, and somebody who truly loved me and would never hurt me. Unfortunately, I was so depressed and tired of life that I never thought that any of this would happen.
I even tried self-medicating myself by abusing pills. They turned into an addiction, because I took them even when I didn’t need them.
Eventually, I hit rock bottom and decided that nobody or nothing else was going to fix my life for me. I had to fix my life myself. If I wanted a happy life and a successful business of my own, I was going to have to start thinking positive.
I used a variety of tools to help me:
• Visualization techniques
• Vision board
• Stress diary
I set goals for myself and rewarded myself for reaching them. When I first tried positive affirmations, I really didn’t believe in them. Self-hypnosis and meditation really helped me to let go of the negative and to focus on the positive. The more I stayed positive, the more opportunities appeared in front of me.
To make a long story short, I am now living the life that I once just envisioned in dreams. The life I once wanted but didn’t think possible to get. I run my own business and I’m making decent money. I’ve found Mr. Right and he treats me with the respect and dignity I deserve. I realized that if I wanted somebody to truly love me, I would have to love myself.
I’ll share with you some tips on how you can live the life you want, just as I am:
1. Read inspiring stories, like this one, every day. Watch inspiring videos. Listen to motivational audio. Stay away from negative news or depressing movies. If you fill your time with positive stories and thoughts, you will “raise your vibes” so to speak. If you raise your vibes, you will attract better opportunities in your life. It’s sometimes said that people become their thoughts.
2. Feel gratitude! Whatever happens, be thankful for it. If you’re breathing, be thankful to be alive. If you’ve lost money, be thankful that you’ll have a chance to earn it again someday. If you’re overweight, be thankful that you have enough food to eat. Every day, make a list of five things you’re thankful for. In time, you will attract even more things for which you will be thankful!
3. Don’t allow negativity to overwhelm you. Even if you’re having a bad day, be thankful that you’ll be able to fight another day. It’s okay to cry every now and then, but what’s important is that you dry your eyes and keep on going. Don’t dwell on the bad days. Instead, pick yourself up and try again. Try finding something positive in every bad thing that happens, and it won’t seem so bad anymore.
4. Be persistent with everything that you try! Failure is only a word. So you fell down 10 times when learning how to ski. Get back up and keep trying. Even if you fall 100 times, don’t give up. Whether you’re trying to learn something new or want to run your own business, be persistent. Success isn’t too far off – you just need to get over this hurdle to achieve it. How do you know you won’t get over the hurdle the next time you try? You’ll have to get over it eventually – unless you quit. Staying determined and persistent is the best thing you can do for yourself.
If you follow these tips, you will have your own story on positive thinking to tell someday!
Of course, there are plenty of other tips you can read and techniques you can try. You can learn how to utilize positive thinking tools like I did. These include vision boards, self esteem exercises, self-hypnosis, etc.
