But then I read about the powers of positive thinking one day and got to thinking about how I was bringing my problems on myself. How? By feeling sorry for myself. The reason why I was so helpless was because I FELT helpless and thought that I was. The reason why I kept having anxiety attacks is because I believed that I didn’t have control over anything. This only made it all worse.
If we bring our suffering onto ourselves, doesn’t it make sense that we can bring happiness to ourselves as well?
I managed to bring myself happiness. I learned how to attract wonderful things into my life, and you can too!
• First, you have to believe that positive thinking really will change your life for the better. If you don’t even believe that you can improve your life by changing your thought pattern, you won’t.
• Start out small. Does it seem far-fetched that you can get everything you’ve ever wanted in one night? If so, then start out trying to attract small things. Visualization helps. Spend at least ten minutes a day imagining something small that you would like to attract. Imagine how happy you will be once it is yours. Once you begin attracting small things, you will feel more positive. The more positive you feel, the more you will be able to attract!
• Every day, make a list of at least ten things for which you are thankful. No matter how upset or angry you feel, try to put some focus on the things you appreciate in life. It can be small things, like living in a civilized country, having food in your fridge, having internet access, having a roof over your head, etc. The more you find in life to be thankful about, the more you will attract!
• Try to stay away from things that will cause you anxiety. If you’re tired of all the negativity on the news, then stay away from it. Don’t read the newspaper or watch TV if you are just going to feel down. Also, try avoiding negative people as much as you can. If you have to face them at work, learn how to tune them out.
• Speaking of work, if your workplace is causing you a lot of anxiety, try overcoming the anxiety by telling yourself (and BELIEVING) that everything is going to be okay. Keep repeating affirmations the night before that “I will be fine at work tomorrow.” “I will experience peace at work tomorrow.” Spend a few minutes visualizing how it would feel to have a peaceful day at work.
• One technique that really worked for me was laughing. Laughter increases “vibes”, and when your vibes are increased, you will attract better things into your life. Even if you don’t feel like laughing, you should still do it as much as possible. Watch funny videos or go on exciting rides at the amusement park. Play sports or games with friends. The more enjoyment you find in life, the better everything will be for you.
• Listen to inspirational audio programs and find positive friends who can give you the encouragement you need. Surrounding yourself with positive people is one of the best things you can do. They will keep you in check and offer you motivation whenever you need it.
• Try to convince yourself in any way necessary that you DO HAVE CONTROL! Nobody or nothing can control your life like you can! Change your thought patterns via affirmations. Tell yourself over and over again, “I am in control of my life. I attract happiness and peace every day.”
